The Frozen Oirase Gorge Tour, a winter tradition in Towada City, is back this year!
The stunning “Oirase Gorge” stretches about 14 km from Lake Towada to Mount Yakeyama. Situated within the Towada-Hachimantai National Park, it’s a specially protected area known for its dramatic winter scenery. During the season, waterfalls throughout the gorge freeze into breathtaking ice formations, creating an almost timeless spectacle as water cascades behind icicles.
On this guided bus tour, you’ll explore Oirase’s snowy landscape by day, then admire illuminated ice waterfalls and icicles by night.
