The Ministry of the Environment, along with Aomori Prefecture, Hachinohe City, Nanbu Town, Gonohe Town, and Towada City, is working to establish a 120-km ‘Hachinohe Towada Trail’ (tentative name). This trail will stretch from Hachinohe City through Nanbu Town and Gonohe Town to Towada Shrine in Towada City, creating a new long-distance course connecting Towada-Hachimantai National Park with the Michinoku Coastal Trail. Currently, route development and other preparations are underway with the goal of conducting trial openings around April 2025.
