What is an Igloo?
An event where you can experience the structure of the snow house “Igloo,” which is made by piling up snow blocks, will be held at Yakeyama Onsen Ski Resort in Towada City on February 10 and 11, 2023. An “igloo” is a dome-shaped snow house made by the extremely cold indigenous tribes of North America by piling up snow blocks to overcome the cold of winter. It was developed as a new winter content starting in the winter of 2023 to use this “igloo” as a tourist resource in Aomori, where there is a lot of snow.
How to make an igloo
The participants stepped on the snow, cut it out in blocks using a special saw for snow, and arranged it in a circle.
Then, while considering balance, the snow blocks are piled up in a dome shape, and you can enjoy the final look of the finished igloo.
Horse meat hot pot made with ingredients from Towada for lunch
Then, warm up your cold body with horse meat in the first half of building an igloo. Yakeyama Onsen Ski Resort will be offering a special horse meat pot to those who participated in the “Igloo Making Experience.”
Of course, the ingredients used for horse meat hot pot are from Towada, and they also include Nanbu rice crackers specially made from the southern region.
While all participants interact, they enjoy a delicious meal at the ski resort cafeteria.
