■About Shibazakura Art Marche
Towada City formulated the Yakeyama District Revitalization Basic Plan based on “flowers,” “hot springs,” and “art” in 2014/5 with the aim of improving the attractiveness of the Yakeyama district.
<Purpose of the Yakeyama Area Revitalization Basic Plan>
The Yakeyama district, located at the gateway to Lake Towada and the Oirase Gorge, has been known as a hot spring resort since opening in 1963, and is an area with potential tourism resources, such as beautiful scenery and the development of tourism businesses, such as the Oirase Gorge Onsen Ski Resort as a winter recreation facility.
Furthermore, it is a transportation hub leading to Aomori City/Hakkoda in the north, Lake Towada/Akita in the west, and Towada city and the southern part of the prefecture in the east. A basic plan incorporating “flowers,” “hot springs,” and “art” was formulated with the aim of promoting the tourism industry and securing places of employment, as the pillars of improving the attractiveness of the Yakeyama district.
A market will be held in the Yakeyama area during the moss phlox season to extend the stay time for tourists, expand consumption, and promote regional economic cycles.
